Friday 16 August 2013, roughly 8:30p at the SUB/Mission arts space in San Francisco’s Mission District. My modified Ibanez, my solo board and a lone Peavey bass amp, captured with Zoom’s most minimal portable X-Y digital recorder (the H1). Those familiar with my playing will recognize that there are no pre-recorded loops or samples: everything is played and sampled/looped live.
There is no editing, no overdubs, and only minimal sonic processing: compression for consistent leveling with a touch of EQ to ease up on the proliferation of low-mid frequencies. Any eccentricities related to the performance are intact.
Following my set was Nerd Revolt & Wave Well, with La Fin Absolute du Monde headlining.

Matt has logged about 20 years on the electric guitar, and has employed live looping techniques since 2001. Matt's guitar style has been influenced by the concept of extended-range guitar: a lower bass range that extends through a normal guitar's upper range. All loops are set up live and in the moment....more
